Tom Callos Linocut Portrait of George Orwell
I sought to make a compelling likeness of writer George Orwell, as he’s been on my mind as of late (Gosh, I wonder why?).
Orwell, of course, wrote Animal Farm and 1984. His real name was Eric Arthur Blair (25 June 1903 – 21 January 1950), and he was an English novelist and essayist, journalist and critic, whose work is characterized by lucid prose, awareness of social injustice, opposition to totalitarianism, and outspoken support of democratic socialism.
I used Strathmore Bristol Vellum finish paper —and Caligo Safe Wash Yellow Ochre and Prussion Blue ink. The print measures 11” x 14” —with the image measuring about 8” x 10.” If you’d like to have one of these, see if I have any on my ETSY store, here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/FlyingFootPress
